Abigail Brosh is a screenwriter/director/actor/editor/nerd/cake-maker living in LA. She trained at NYU, RADA, and UCB, and got her start writing and editing short films and webseries in New York. Since then her work has been featured at ITVFest, SeriesFest, LA Liftoff Film Fest, Austin Comedy Film Fest, etc.

Abby delights the most in working with dark comedy and sci-fi… but as her multi-directional career choices suggest, she is excited by almost any genre (so long as it doesn’t involve clowns).

MEET THE PRODUCTION TEAM: HELEN SIMMINS-MCMILLIN

Meet the #citykitties creative team – composer Helen Simmins-McMillin

Helen is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, where she earned her Bachelors of Music with an Emphasis in Commercial Composition. She has studied with Jared Spears and John Prince.

Following graduation she enrolled in UCLA’s Film Scoring Extension Program where she won the BMI/Jerry Goldsmith Film Scoring Scholarship. She was selected as an intern for the Society of Composers and Lyricist’s Mentorship Program where she studied with Alf Clausen (The Simpsons, Moonlighting,) Dan Foliart, (7th Heaven, 8 Simple Rules, Home Improvement,) and Jay Chattaway (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise.)

Helen’s ability to write in a variety of musical genres has landed her a diverse array of projects including seven feature films, numerous television programs, over 25 short films, four plays, commercials, and two web series, music for most of which was written and recorded entirely in her own studio. In addition, she has written concert works, art songs, solo instrumental compositions and a few pop songs.

After City Kitties, the next project on her plate is The Green Apron, a comic chamber opera depicting a day in the lives of coffee shop employees.

MEET THE PRODUCTION TEAM: HAYLEY VALERI

Meet the #citykitties creative team – @hayvaleri

Hayley Valeri is a cinematographer and photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. She attended Los Angeles Film Studies Center, and graduated with a BS in Mass Communications from Toccoa Falls College in northeast Georgia.

Hayley works in multiple capacities within the film industry, including director of photography, camera assistant, gaffer, editor and colorist. She works fluidly between different platforms within the creative realms of fashion, music, digital, commercial and non-profit.

Her career goal is to work on documentary and narrative features, write her own films and produce more editorial photography.

MEET THE DIRECTORS: LAUREN CURRIE

Lauren Currie is a producer and director based in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating from Cornish College of the Arts (@cornishcollegeofthearts) with a BFA in directing, she joined boom!, an experimental arts collective, as a founding company member.

While working with boom!, Lauren helmed development and directed numerous original plays and performance art pieces in Seattle, and developed productions around the US for the Boulder, New York, Santa Cruz, and Seattle Fringe Festivals.

After relocating to Los Angeles, she moved into creative production for short films, digital content, branding, and creative non-profits. She co-founded chap.three in 2017 with best friend and longtime collaborator Ellen Steves, with the mission to spotlight work by women creatives. City Kitties is a concept they’ve been developing for over two years, and marks Lauren’s directorial debut in the film medium.

MEET THE DIRECTORS: BIANCA CATBAGAN

Bianca Catbagan is a Filipino director / photographer currently based in Los Angeles. She recently graduated from Columbia University in New York City with an MFA in Directing & Screenwriting.

Her film Paraluman was nominated for a Golden Egg at the Reykjavík International Film Festival 2016. Most recently, her film Supermodel won a grant from the Cinematografo International Film Festival and screened to a sold-out audience in San Francisco.

She is currently an in-house director at Indie Pop Films, a full service live-action and stop-motion animation production house with offices in Los Angeles and Manila, Philippines.

MEET THE DIRECTORS: LYNELLE WHITE

Before pursuing a second career as a writer/director, Lynelle was an active duty pilot in the United States Air Force. After leaving active duty, Lynelle began to pursue her lifelong yet repressed passion for television and film.

She graduated from UCLA’s MFA in Screenwriting program in 2017 and was named a fellow in Film Independent’s Episodic Television Lab later that year. Lynelle is the recipient of the NAACP/NBC Universal Television Fellowship and the Women in Film Eleanor Perry Writing Award.

Her previous TV writing credits include ARMY WIVES and Z NATION.  Lynelle’s most recent directorial effort, a short film entitled “AN UBER TALE” that she also wrote, screened at the Silverlake Picture Show, the Alameda International Film Festival and the Short and Sweet Film Festival in Hollywood.

Currently a staff writer on CW’s hit comic book series, BLACK LIGHTNING. Season 3 premieres Monday, October 7, 2019 at 9/8C on @thecw 📸 : @bcatbagan

MEET THE DIRECTORS: KERRI LENDO

Kerri Lendo is a Los Angeles based stand-up and filmmaker.  Kerri got her start doing stand up comedy in Austin Texas and has toured the country with such comics as Maria Bamford. She is an award-winning filmmaker and her work has played festivals including LAFF, AFI, AFF, and more. Kerri can also be seen as the co-host of the web show Inside Joke on Youtube. Her new web series Bonnie Bonnetson will premiere this fall.

MEET THE DIRECTORS: VERONICA MOONHILL

Veronica Moonhill is a director, creator and performance artist based in LA. She began her career in the New Orleans experimental theater scene where her love for absurdism and flair blossomed. Veronica is drawn to making work that is feminine, fantastical and joyful. Her first short film, Amanda_Test_1, premiered at Outfest LA. Her next short, a feminist existential fantasy called This World and The Next made with her longtime collaborator Nat Moonhill, will premier at New Orleans Filmfest in Fall 2019. She is also the founder of CLITTER! sparkly vulva, boob and ovary confetti. She is thrilled for City Kitties to be birthed into the world and to have been a part of such a bold project. 📸 : @bcatbagan .
